BMI is excited to announce the launch of a new research project that aims to understand the experiences of Black Muslims in traditional Muslim spaces. For this project, we are conducting a survey which will address experiences of anti-Black racism and discrimination within our communities. In February 2019, The Black Muslim Initiative and the Tesselate Institute launched the findings of a systematic review of published and unpublished literature on Black Muslims in Canada, conducted by Dr. Fatimah Jackson-Best. This review was the first of its kind to consolidate, analyze and report on the Black Muslim experience in a Canadian context.
